Pishbol is the fun native Tagalog pronunciation for the English word “fishball.”
Essentially airy balls of dough that have been deep-fried, Filipino-style “fishballs” have been a popular street food in the Philippines for decades.

Though they come out of the hot oil-filled wok as roundish globes, the “fish” balls turn into flatter discs soon enough. They frequently are skewered onto a stick and then dipped in sauce.
