Carioca / Karyoka
From the Iberian word carioca
In English, the word carioca refers to anything related to the city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, but particularly to a type of Brazilian dance resembling the samba.
In the Philippines, karyoka is a ball of glutinous-rice dough that’s deep fried and then dipped in brown coconut syrup. These balls are often served skewered on a thin bamboo stick.
