Karne
The Filipino word for “meat” is karne, from the Spanish carne. The native Tagalog word is laman, but that term is now more commonly used to refer to what can be translated into English as “flesh.”
Meat is an expensive source of protein. Why don’t you use tofu, soybeans, eggs, or mungbean seeds instead? These are not just cheap — they’re also better for the body. You’ll find out that with the right preparation, these foods can be as delicious as meat dishes!
