Empanada
Filipino empanada is a stuffed-pastry snack with roots in the original empanada of Portugal and Spain on the Iberian peninsula.
In the featured photo topmost on this page is Empanadang Vigan, named after the capital city of Ilocos Sur province in the northern part of the Philippines. Its usual ingredients are cabbage, ground pork, and egg whites. Empanadas from the Ilocos region have an orange tint due to the addition of atswete. The cooking method is deep frying, instead of baking.
