Bunwelos
In most countries influenced by Spain, a buñuelo is a fried dough ball.
In the Philippines, bunwelos are not always shaped round like a ball. That’s why they’re simply called fritters by English speakers.
When you mash a ripe banana together with eggs and other ingredients, optionally dip the mixture in flour batter before deep-frying, the result is a banana fritter!
Here is a recipe in Tagalog for bunwelos.
