Tahong is the Tagalog word for “mussels.”

In the Philippines, fresh mussels are often prepared simply by boiling. In the featured photo above, vegetables like cabbage and pechay (bokchoy) were also added, making it a truly nutritious accompaniment to the usual steamed white rice.
