Nilaga
Pork Ribs Nilaga by Mommy Shelette.
In the Tagalog language, nilaga simply means “boiled.” For example, nilagang mani means boiled peanuts.
When Filipinos hear the word by itself to describe a dish, nilaga often refers to meat like pork or beef being boiled with vegetables.
Simple Guide For Making Nilaga
1 kilogram of meat
1 onion, sliced
1 potato, quartered
3 banana (saba) halves
300 grams cabbage
3 stems of pechay
cracked black pepper
salt to taste
Boil for at least half an hour if the meat is pork — perhaps an hour if it’s beef — until tender.
Add the onion, potato, black pepper, and saba. Wait for the potato to be done.
Last, add the pechay and cabbage.
Salt to taste.
