“That’s because this type of meal has its roots in the Philippine military’s style of eating in which soldiers, regardless of rank or position, dine together on food spread out on banana leaves” – please this practice is rooted in precolonial times and shared with neighbouring Indonesia and Malaysia. Do Filipinos a favour and stop pretending that our culture owes it’s existence to American and Spainish etc colonisers who forcibly enforced their rule and culture over the islands and its people.
